The Way Back

The Way Back

This piece came from one of those life moments when everything shifts at once. I painted it during a really challenging time, and now when I look at it, I see resilience. I see the choice to keep going when things feel impossible.

The dark background holds these bursts of copper metallic that catch differently as you move around the piece. I'm drawn to exploring the relationship between light and dark in my work - how they need each other to exist.

There's something about those copper flecks that feels like hope to me. Like even in the darkest moments, there are these little glimmers that remind you the light is still there. It just takes a different angle to see it.

Flow State B29

Flow State B29

This piece came from a winter ritual I developed in 2023. After long, stressful work days, I'd sit at my desk and lose myself in these flowing patterns before bed. It became this meditative practice that helped me decompress and find my center again.

The swirling blue lines follow their own rhythm - there's no planning or sketching, just letting the marker move where it wants to go. I'd experimented with this flowing style years earlier but never thought it was "good enough" to pursue. Coming back to it in my thirties, I realized it didn't need to be anything other than what it was - pure meditation in motion.

Even though this series came from a challenging time, these pieces remind me of joy. There's something about the repetitive, circular movements that just feels good to create and even better to look at. The deep blue has this calming energy that still helps me feel grounded when I see it.

Candle // "It's Happening" Terrazzo Art Print

Candle // "It's Happening" Terrazzo Art Print

This peice captures a moment of creative breakthrough - when I was first developing my terrazzo style and everything started clicking into place. I was experimenting with layering shapes on top of each other, playing with how they interacted and created depth.

The warm terracotta background with bursts of turquoise, cream, and soft neutrals became one of my favourite colour combinations. I loved how the different tones worked together - the contrast felt balanced without being too bold.

The title says it all - this piece came from that exciting phase when I knew I was onto something new. It represents the joy of discovering a style that felt authentically mine, something I'd continue exploring for years to come.
